Why do cats like to sleep between my legs?
Because it’s comfortable~

1.Legs are warmer and more comfortable.
In the cold autumn and winter, cats have a very accurate radar for finding “heat sources”! Electric heaters and blankets, hot water bottles filled with boiling water, and even your own warmth are all things cats love to cuddle with.
Compared to the arms and legs, the middle of the thighs is closer to our torso and is one of the warmest parts of the human body, making it more attractive to kittens.

2.Cats are more familiar with legs than other parts of their bodies.
When we are standing or sitting, the “greeting” spot that cats habitually rub against or touch is our legs or knees, as these areas retain more of the pheromones they are familiar with.
In addition, since we often sit during the day or when we are awake, cats have also become accustomed to lying or sleeping on our laps.

3.Less likely to be disturbed
We often use our hands to hold cats, but we don’t often “disturb” them with our feet; and when working from home or watching TV, even if our hands are used for typing, peeling treats, or fiddling with our phones, our legs are often in a relatively fixed position.
Therefore, in a cat’s subconscious, legs have a “more stable personality,” meaning they won’t “penetrate” them while they sleep, nor will they frequently change positions or disturb them. This makes cats more inclined to snuggle up to our legs.

4.Feeling safer when surrounded by a circle
Just like cats can never resist the temptation of a cardboard box, this feeling of being somewhat enclosed and surrounded makes cats feel very safe.

Of course, there are other speculations: compared to the hard, stiff arms and the overly soft, fatty belly, the thighs offer a balance of softness and shape. This texture might be why cats prefer it.

In short, whatever the specific reason, or even whatever position your cat prefers to sleep in, or which part of your body it snuggles against,

if your cat chooses to sleep with you, that’s a blessing!
